Tsholofelo Matshaba (born July 4, 1983) is a South African actress. She is best known for playing devious Meme on the SABC 2 soap opera Muvhango. Her role as detective Jasmine in the series Kings of Joburg further thrust her into the limelight.

The actress has appeared in many theatre productions and television shows. She has acted in Born in the RSA 2, Melodies of Love, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Lion King, Soweto Story, Aladdin, and Robinson Crusoe.

Early Life

Born on July 4, 1983, Tsholofelo Matshaba is from Mabopane township in Tshwane.

Education

Matshaba enrolled at the Tshwane University of Technology in 2002. She graduated with a National Diploma in Musical Theatre in 2004.

Career

Many know her for playing the devious gold-digger Meme on the SABC2 soap opera Muvhango. She has appeared in over fifteen television shows in South Africa.

Tsholofelo has starred in some television productions, such as the SABC2 sitcom Skwizas. She played the demanding, rebellious niece of Mmane, played by Lillian Dube.

In 2015, she played Molahlegi in season four of the SABC 1 drama soap opera Skeem Saam. 

In August 2015, Tsholofelo played the lead character Keneilwe in the SABC2 family drama series Mamello. Her character was an idealistic teacher who moved to a new school. She falls in love with a teacher in the same school.

The actress played the starring role of the queen’s younger sister Odirile in the Mzansi Magic telenovela The Throne.

Tsholofelo Matshaba married Chris Matshaba on Saturday, December 27, 2014, in Ramokokastad. Her husband worked as a radio presenter and DJ at Motsweding FM. 

Their marriage lasted for only three years after her husband succumbed to a battle with cancer in 2018. She currently lives in Johannesburg.

Dating

Tsholofelo dated fellow actor Dingaan Mokebe, who portrayed James in the SABC 2 Muvhango. They played romantic roles on the screen, and they started real life.

While they were dating, she became pregnant and had a daughter with Dingaan. Their romantic relationship ended in a nasty public split, with both parties making allegations and claims.

For Tsholofelo, the relationship was abusive, while Dingaan claimed the actress denied him access to their child.
