This is the biography of Rorisang “Rori” Thandekiso, she is a multitalented South African TV presenter, musician, and actress. She is best known for her vibrant personality as the presenter of the SABC1 weekend breakfast show Mzansi Insider and her previous role as a YOTV presenter.

Early Life

Rorisang was born in Bloemfontein, in the Free State province of South Africa. She grew up in the Vaal, where her mother worked, and it was there that she blossomed into her bubbly self. Initially aspiring to become a hairdresser and own her own hair salon, Rorisang later set her sights on becoming a world-renowned supermodel like Naomi Campbell.

Her fascination with entertainment began through television and performances, but in her later years of primary school, she discovered a passion for English Olympiads, public speaking, and debating. This love for communication and expression continued throughout her high school and university years, during which she pursued a degree in International Relations.

Rorisang’s confident and gifted speaking abilities led her to win accolades such as the Young Communicator of The Year Award from Anglo-American and the Sowetan newspaper while she was still in matric. She also represented South Africa with distinction at the Global Young Leaders Summit in the United States.

Rorisang’s career in media started with her first radio break at Touch Central, which later became Touch HD online. There, she gained valuable experience and learned about the intricacies of radio broadcasting. Influenced by notable radio personalities such as Sammy T, Tim Modise, DJ Fresh, Rude Boy Paul, Unathi Nkanyi, Glen Lewis, Thomas Msengana, Twasa, and B2cada, Rorisang’s magnetic personality and alluring voice eventually led her to the prestigious airwaves of Metro FM. She also established herself as a well-known television presenter, hosting shows such as YOTV, Mzansi Insider, and Tropika Smooth Fan. Rorisang’s acting talents have been showcased on television shows like Mzansi Love and the SABC1 drama series Sticks and Stones. Additionally, she has made guest appearances on shows like Mi Kasi Su Kasi, The Bantu Hour, and #Karektas.

Not limited to presenting and acting, Rorisang is also a musician. She was once the lead vocalist for the band MuzArt, which gained recognition and was featured on the e.tv series Rolling With… in 2014. Although the music group eventually disbanded, Rorisang continued to explore her creative pursuits.

In 2017, Rorisang Thandekiso added “author” to her list of accomplishments by releasing her memoir, titled “The Girl Who Thought She Was Too Much.” She is set to release another book in September 2024, entitled “The Disciple,” where she shares key moments from her life, along with the lessons and challenges she has faced. The book is inspired by 1 Timothy 4:12 in the Bible.

Rorisang Thandekiso made television history by becoming the first female to host an edition of the widely recognized game show franchise, Wheel of Fortune, produced in more than 40 countries. She expressed her gratitude at having the opportunity to introduce the show to Africa and becoming the first female anchor host.
