Television channel e.tv presents a new replacement for the soap opera Imbewu: The Seed – Smoke and Mirrors. The Final Chapter Productions produced the late-night drama series, which premieres on April 17.
The E.tv series has seasoned actors like Ayanda Bandla, Meshack Mavuso-Magabane, Duma Ndlovu, and Angela Sithole.
The Story
The television series follows the happenings in a small mining town, Emnyameni, meaning darkness in isiZulu. Thandiswa is a hairdresser by day and an escort by night. She has a mission to uproot a cabal of corrupt men – The Unholy Trinity, who runs the small town.

Ayanda Bandla as Thandiswa Mseleku
Ayanda takes on the role of Thandiswa Mseleku, a hairdresser by day and an escort by night. Her sole mission is to remove the three evil trio – Caesar, Jaxon, and Mthetho, known as The Unholy Trinity, who runs the town of Emnyameni.
The actress is also a political sciences graduate and television personality. She is best known as a contestant on the SABC1 reality competition One Day Leader.
Zolisa Xaluva as Caesar
Zolisa Xaluva plays one of the corrupt trio in the town of Emnyameni. He leads the pack and is best known as the alpha and a cut-throat businessman. He doesn’t care if he gets his hand dirty before accomplishing a goal.
Meshack Mavuso-Magabane as Jaxon
Meshack plays Jaxon with an X, a flashy Mayor who lives way beyond his means. He is best known for appearing in television series like Heist, Isidingo, Yizo Yizo, Isithembiso, and Durban Gen.
Kabomo Vilakazi as Mthetho
Kabomo Vilakazi plays the town’s police commissioner – Mthetho. He lives a double life that will catch up with him soon. He is also a singer, poet, rapper, artist manager, and producer.
The actor has appeared in many films and television series, such as Zabalaza, Sink, and Seriously Single. He has edited Y-Mag and Uncutt Magazine and contributed to True Love Magazine.
Khayalethu Xaba as Mpendulo Mseleku
Khayalethu plays Mpendulo Mseleku, the son of Thandiswa Mseleku. He is a teenage street-smart kid.
Lusanda Mbane as Martha
Lusanda plays Martha, a former sex worker who owns a two-star hotel in Emnyameni.
Apart from acting, she is a radio host and is best known for appearing in many television series such as Scandal!, Muvhango, Imbewu, and Generations.
JT Medupe as Leeroy
Only a few actors can combine many talents and come out exceptional. Medupe is an actor, singer, dancer, and presenter and has appeared in many television series, such as YOTV, Sokhulu & Partners, and Rockville.
In Smoke and Mirrors, he plays Leeroy – a hairstylist and lover of a rich and powerful man in the Emnyameni.
Charmaine Mtinta as Nomvea
Charmaine Mtinta is best known for starring as Nomsa in season one of the SABC1 drama series Yizo Yizo. The role earned her the Avanti Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series.
